What is LRNG Philly?

LRNG is a digital badging platform and community that creates a unique badging experience focused on both connected learning and resource sharing among cities and organizations

LRNG originated out of the Cities of Learning initiative started in Chicago in 2012 by the MacArthur Foundation. In 2015, the MacArthur Foundation provided funding to develop a non-profit to manage the Cities of Learning initiative and grow it across the country. Cities of Learning was then rebranded as LRNG.

In 2016, Digital On-Ramps received an award from LRNG to start LRNG Philly as part of their original pilot program.

    LRNG is designed for youth, providing them interest based learning opportunities where they can earn digital badges.

    Youth facing organizations can create their own content and use playlists, XPs, and badges to innovate their programs and provide learners with an enriching experience.
  • How does the LRNG platform work for an Organization?
  • How does LRNG work for Students
    • Student learners can create can create an account and find the Playlists and Badges that they're interested in completing. They can also search for the organizations they're working with to find specific content.
    • Use the Portfolio to share your accomplishments via social media or LinkedIn.
