Over the last year, Digital On-Ramps (DOR) has been working with the Paschalville Partnership’s Southwest Job Readiness Lab to support job readiness skills through the use of Job Seeker digital badges. Collaborating with the Free Library, Southwest CDC, and the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Adult Education, our team identified the resources and tutorials connected to competencies that will provide adults with the skills they need for employment. The SWJLR is planning to implement the job readiness badges at both the Paschalville Library and the Southwest CDC.
Library patrons can earn the badges through self-paced tutorials and resources from GCF Learn Free, Philadelphia Works, and the Free Library. The Job Seeker pathway contains five badges including Tech Basics, Resume Buiding, Networking and Interviewing, Career Explorer and Professional Communicator. When an adult has completed all five badges they automatically earn the culminating Job Seeker badge.
DOR will assisting the SWJRL in launching a pilot of the badges in August of 2018.
